CUPHEA FALSE or MEXICAN HEATHER
This is Cuphea hyssopifolia, also known as False or Mexican Heather. It has deep purple flowers and dark green leaves.
It attracts bees during the warmer seasons.
It also produces many seedlings - they just sprout everywhere underneath the plants, sometimes even onto the lawn.
The seedlings are easy to grow, just plant them onto pots or ground.
We find that this Cuphea False could not withstand the hot summer season very well. They tend to dry up easily compared to the Lemon Squash variety.
