Garden pause
It’s been awhile. Have not been gardening since the weather turned cold and the plants do not thrive in cold weather. My portulacas are dead because of the cold. The weather this week is showers and overcast. Not a time to go outdoors.
I miss gardening. Hope to get back to it come Spring.

Buzzy Bee
Tried my hand at photographing this cute little buzzybee without getting stung (else I would not call it a cute buzzybee anymore!). Somehow I have increased interest in photographing plants and tiny subjects involving gardens ever since we started this whole gardening hobby (no, no, no, no time for DSLR yet). I have quite a number of close up shots of my flowers and will share them here once I get the time to sort them out.

Cupcheas burnt!
I can’t believe it, I almost destroyed all 8 bushes of beautiful Cupcheas planted at the frontyard garden bed! Silly me put too much fertilizers directly onto the Cupcheas’ stems. After that I forgot to water it down. The fertilizers must have been too concentrated and strong for the plants to bear. The stems near the roots and the leafs now look brownish. My poor plants! We watered it down a lot as soon as we realized the mistake I made and I hope somehow the plants will survive. We put a lot of love, work and hours to grow them and I hate to see them wasted by my silly mistake. Only time will tell
Toronto Flowers
One of the best thing to send someone are flowers! It is amazing how flowers can bring a smile to just about anyone who receives them no matter how old your friends or loved ones are. Now that I live far away from my close friends and family, I sometimes order flowers online to surprise them. My personal pick is usually mothers day flowers. I think every mom deserves a bouquet or two every now and then.
I am sure many times we rush to surf online to place that last minute floral order only to find that most stores do not do same day deliveries. But with Tidy’s Flowers, you can be assured of same day delivery service including to North America as they are the specialists in that aspect.
Whether you are looking for wedding flowers or some beautiful Toronto Flowers, you can find all kinds of beautiful floral arrangements for your needs. They also provide worldwide delivery service, usually the next business day for overseas.
Tidy’s Flowers user friendly website is easy to navigate. Each floral arrangement is displayed in clear, good sized photo so that you may see what exactly is included. They have flowers for all seasons, occasions, personal to business as well as gifts like balloons and bears just to name a few, which you may add to your floral arrangement. Remember to bookmark Tidy’s Flowers , I am sure it will come in handy for everyone.

Autumn Heat
I am not sure if it is due to the Autumn heat that the gardener ie myself, have fallen ill today! The temps had been scorching hot at 30C and above, with full sun and I had been spending a lot of time manicuring the lawn edging at the backyard. Has the sun taken its toll on me?
Even my plants do not look so good especially the Gazanias. We need more rain. The ground is so dry and the grass is looking yellowish. It’s no good.
Gazebos
Having a beautifully landscaped backyard is a dream for most people. Our backyard is tiny but we are striving to make it as green as possible. If only we had a bigger backyard, it would be a dream come true for me to have a gazebo to complete the garden.
I have often wondered what it would be like to have afternoon tea and chit chat with friends under the gazebo. Or simply having a lazy afternoon during Spring time, sipping on a cuppa and reading a book. Sounds picture perfect? I know my little girl would enjoy having a tea party with her friends in a gazebo.
Well, who knows, perhaps there will be a day when my dream will come true? For now, I can only admire gazebos at display homes or the homes of friends and relatives.

Buffalo Palmetto Grass
We have come a long way since the day we moved into our home. From no lawn to a lush green lawn. It is not without after much hard work and hours of love poured into ensuring the lawn gets good top soil, fertiliser and watered frequently. Thanks to my hubby, he did all the hard work. Here are a Before and After photo of one side of the frontyard.

Below is a photo of the right side of the frontyard. At one stage we were so worried that the lawn was drying as it looked dry and yellowish. Hubby acted quickly by ordering one tonne of good top soil (with manure) and spreaded them all over the lawn. Within a week, the lawn was lush and green. The grass type is Buffalo Palmetto. It costs AU$6 per sqm from Greenline Turf.

By the way, I have always hated the rubbish bins being placed right in front of the garage door - it just spoils the look of everything. That is hubby’s way of placing things. Someday I will move them away from being an eyesore.
